To all at New Life Church, Wall Heath,
I’m still busy with the soup kitchens and also a couple of Bible studies linked to them. It’s slow but steady work which I really enjoy and believe that it is having a real effect on those who come. It’s always great to see some of those involved reading more and talking easily about spiritual things.
Wendy is fit and healthy and I’m staggering on behind but the Lord is good and we thank him for all of his goodness towards us.
Thanks again for all your support and the generosity of the saints at Wall Heath over these many years.
Just one thought, the church may want to redirect their giving to someone or some charity as I’m slowing down having reached the grand old age of 82 (and counting!).
We think of you often and pray for you all. May the Lord continue to bless and use you all for his glory.
As ever, in Christ,
Gus

I’ve just received notification of the generous gift from all at Wall Heath. Please pass on my grateful thanks to all in the fellowship. Thanks too for continuing to continue to pray for us, we do so value the prayers of the saints.
Life here in St Annes is still quite busy with the soup kitchens and the Well Cafe where we continue to give good hot meals and always the gospel in music and song as well as simple preaching.
Many of our regular guests are not very literate so the gospel in song goes down very well. I’ve just finished the second Alpha course for those who are interested and we have seen 3 of the regular attendees converted and recently baptised which is really a great joy to us all. We run a Friday morning breakfast club followed by a Bible study particularly for new and recent believers which is very well received and is helping them to grow in their faith. We will start another Alpha course after Easter, but in the meantime I’m running a Discover course based on the ‘Signs’ John speaks of in his Gospel.
I’m still managing to preach in our local church plus one or two other fairly nearby fellowships and am still visiting a couple of prisons not too far away.
Wendy has just had cataract operations which have worked out well. She says ‘I can now see in real technicolour again’!
I’m still struggling with walking too far due to spinal stenosis, but I always sit down to play, sing and preach which works well for me.
All in all we have to say that the Lord is good to us giving so many opportunities to speak of Jesus.
Thanks again for the generous gift from the fellowship.
May the Lord continue to bless and keep you all in the love and kindness of our Saviour.
As ever, in Christ Jesus,
Gus
Thank you email from Gus, 10th July 2023
Dear Jane and Barry,
Having been away for a few days, I’ve only just picked up notice of the kind and generous gift (again) from all at Wall Heath. Please say a big thank you to all from Wendy and myself. We really are bowled over by your continued generosity to us.
I hope you picked up our recent newsletter and the song I included in the email. Not being a very tech savvy kind of a guy I always hope and pray that my messages get through on the internet.
I trust that you are all enjoying your new church premises, I’m sure they will be a blessing to many in the coming years.
I’m just putting the finishing touches to my ‘Johnny Cash Gospel Road' programme which I’ll use at our regular soup kitchen The Well Cafe in a couple of days time. My Old bass player Dave (We sang and player in the gospel band Canaan many, many years ago!) will be with me for the presentation. It’s always a delight to work along side him with his glorious sense of humour and heart for the lost and needy of this world.
Wendy is keeping well and is as fit as a flea. I’m the slow one particularly with my couple of damaged vertebrae, but sitting to play and speak makes things work and we praise the Lord for all the opportunities given and also for those who are slowly coming to faith in the Lord Jesus.
Again, thanks so much for you prayerful support over these many years.
As ever, in the love of Christ,
Gus
