David Brown’s visit to Moldova November - December 2024
Updates
Final update: Tuesday 2nd December
Hi folks
Many thanks for all your prayers and messages of encouragement. We have had a tiring but most importantly a fruitful evangelistic mission trip. We landed a short while ago at Luton and will travel back to Dudley in the morning.
Yours in Christ’s service

Update 8: Sunday 1st December
Hi folks
A Baptist pastor from Leicestershire called Jonathan Morley is part of the team. He and I both gave a word of encouragement to a Bible study group this evening. Several of them stayed after for tea and coffee in the kitchen and grilled me with various theological questions. Diana is not a believer and asked whether her grandmother would have been sent to hell when she died as she believed in the Lord but stayed in the Orthodox Church. We pointed out that God will judge righteously but that the important thing is to make sure we are right before Him ourselves when we know the truth. Her husband Victor is a believer. She has often heard the gospel but made no move to give her life to Christ possibly for fear of the reaction of her rich Orthodox parents. Please pray for her salvation.
Tomorrow is a day off. We may be taken for a trip to a historic town called Socora about 35 kilometres from us up near the border with Ukraine. In the evening we will get together with translators and pastors for a bit of 'post match' analysis and prayer. Tuesday evening, God willing, we fly home. Thanks again for your support.
Yours in Christ’s service

UPDATE 7: SATURDAY 30TH NOVEMBER
Good evening brothers & sisters
We had four meetings today including a children’s club. At the three adult meeting several clearly stated a desire to receive Christ.
Friends, relatives and neighbours of a dear sister Ala attended the final meeting in the village of Gura Cainarului where there has been opposition. All six said they wanted to respond in repentance and love for Jesus after what he has done for them. Pray that they will grow in love for and obedience to him.
Yours in His amazing love
David
Update 6: Friday 29th November
Hi everyone
We visited an extended Roma Gypsy family today where 6 made a response, 3 of whom are already believers. Katia was one of them. We also prayed for the Lord to break her addiction to smoking which has lead to having treatment for lung cancer and prayed for healing including an operation she hopes to be able to afford to have in Germany.

UPDATE 5: Thursday 28th November
Hi folks
Thank you so much for the messages of support, which are such a great encouragement. I am sorry I have not had time to respond to each one.
Today we were in the village of Bocani where there used to be an evangelical church. Pray for the church in Rautel as they are looking to replant there. We had lunch with the mayor who has a real desire to help her people and is keen to encourage the church to help them practically. We were able to pray for her and encourage her so pray for continued favour with mayor Doina and for her salvation and complete healing after a serious car accident recently where the car was wrecked.
Among the families we visited in the village was a father called Vasili whose alcoholic wife disappeared, leaving him with their three children. He responded to the gospel but was concerned about how to get his children to the church in Rautel. Pray for the Lord to strengthen him.

Update 4: Wednesday 27th November
This morning we visited Victor & Olga. Both responded to the preaching in the past but dropped out of church. They both willingly made a recommitment. Pray that they will get baptised and persevere in the faith.
This afternoon we visited Ivana, her children and her mother Svetlana. They were fairly ignorant of the gospel and after hearing it explained were honest about not being ready for such a commitment. Please pray that they will soon be ready, especially as they read the Bibles they were given today. The children are Eugen (14) who has special needs, Nikolai (8) and Alexandra (6) who is having speech therapy.
Yours in Christ’s service
David
Update 3: Tuesday 26th November
Hi folks
At our second meeting today I spoke from Psalm 103 about how the Lord is full of compassion and love to those who fear him. All 7 unbelievers made a response including Vladimir who lost his wife 3 weeks ago when she set fire to their house and burned herself to death. Pray for him to understand that the Lord feels his pain and to feel that his everlasting arms are wrapped tightly around him.
This evening we had such a precious time speaking to a group of girls aged 17-18 in a home. We encouraged them to be courageous like Esther, having the courage to commit their lives to Christ, the courage to get baptised and the courage to witness for Christ. The photo* shows the 5 girls who made a response. The one in the centre is a believer. Pray for them and especially for Brianna on the right of the photo whose mother died and whose father effectively abandoned her for his three wives/partners.
Yours in Christ’s service

*NB unfortunately we didn’t receive the photo mentioned above
Update 2: Monday 25th November
Hi folks
This afternoon we were in a meeting room on the ground floor of an apartment block used for church services. 4 responded for the first time including a boy who used to go to an annual Christian camp. Afterwards a believer called Jana asked for prayer for a persistent sin in her life and then for advice on witnessing to Orthodox colleagues at work. Please pray for victory in her life.
This evening we spoke at a youth group in the home of Sergei. Neither of the two unbelievers responded but I then led a prayer of greater commitment for the believers most of whom prayed out loud to commit to more prayer and Bible reading and witnessing and worship and devotion to Jesus. Pray for him to raise up an army of young people here to be disciples who make disciples.
Yours in Christ’s service

Update 1: Sunday 24th November
“Evening all” (remind anyone of an old TV programme?)
We arrived safely at our accommodation in a children’s orphanage after midnight so were very tired today. Pray for energy and strength as we expect to have 4 gospel meetings each day.
This morning I preached a short sermon at Emmanuel Church Balti before Jonathan, a pastor from Leicester, have the main sermon. Ben then have his testimony and I gave a gospel talk at a women’s group and youth group and about half a dozen at each indicated a first time response to the gospel. Pray for the fruit of the Spirit to be seen in their lives.
Yours in Christ’s service
